MANILA, JUNE 28, 2013 – Aside from winning the Ad Age cover and a free trip to the world’s biggest creativity festival, Lowe Thailand’s Katrina Encanto and EJ Galang’s Cannes experience was made sweeter with Gold Lions in Press for the team’s work for the Sunlight brand (Unilever).
Encanto was the art director assigned to the campaign, while Galang is one of three copywriters.
"We came here because we won something. We thought that was already the prize but we’re so happy to be here and witness the big Filipino wins. [We’re] very, very proud when we won the Grand Prix and the Gold," said Encanto.
Asked about how they feel about the win, a jovial Galang added: "We don’t know. We’re not even supposed to be here. And then all of a sudden we’re going up on stage at the biggest ad show in the world. It’s crazy."

Their ticket to Cannes was a winning entry (‘Portrait of a Creative in the Digital Age’) to Ad Age‘s fourth annual cover contest. The design debuted as the cover for the magazine’s June 10 Creativity Issue. The trip was the two’s first and the victory came from a last shot to enter the contest (Galang nearing the age limit for eligibility).
