MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Fifteen pairs from the Philippines’ top creative agencies proved their talent and ingenuity during Jam for Good, securing their spot in an intensive eight-week Google Bootcamp. Among them, representatives from MullenLowe Treyna were named the grand winner and will advance to represent the country in an international competition in 2021.

Jam for Good is a creative competition borne out of the collaboration between the Creative Guild of the Philippines and Create with Google, a Google program that promotes creativity in the platform. The annual gathering, held online for the first time, put the spotlight on Filipino creatives who championed the use of creativity and technology to propose solutions for some of the uncertainties brought about by the global pandemic.

Over 100 creatives in teams of two participated in the 24-hour challenge. Using Google tools and products, each pair had to come up with a concept that illustrates their ideas on how to combine creativity and technology to help alleviate pressing local problems brought about by the pandemic, in the areas of mental health, jobs, education, domestic abuse, physical well-being, and how to break the mundanity of the situation.

Iya Parungao and Eden Sarmiento of MullenLowe Treyna’s Team EDIYA impressed the panel of judges with their award-winning COVID-19 response idea that utilized Google Maps to collate data from hospitals and help patients find medical centers with available bedspaces. With their Hospital Bedspace Locator, they aim to eliminate the hassle of moving from one hospital to another so families can save time and get treated faster.

“Through Jam for Good, we hope to use the power of technology and creative storytelling to create an impact in the community in partnership with the Filipino creatives community. It is inspiring to see them collaborate and ideate to develop simple yet helpful innovations. Congratulations to the winners and we can’t wait to see their ideas come to life and evolve,” said Sabs Formoso-Ocampo, Head of Agency – Philippines at Google

As grand winners of Jam for Good, Team EDIYA will be representing the Philippines in an international creative competition in 2021.

They will also be joining the top 15 finalist teams from Propel Manila, TBWA\Santiago Mangada Puno, VMLY&R, Ace Saatchi & Saatchi, McCann, BBDO, NuWorks, and BBDO & Wunderman Thompson in an eight-week Google Bootcamp where they will have hands-on immersion in Google platforms, interact with tech product experts, and receive support to fine tune and develop their ideas.
