MANILA, PHILIPPINES — In honor of its former Chairman, the late Mr. Javier Calero, the APAC Tambuli Awards has announced the Javier Calero Tambuli Scholarship Fund. A portion of all entry fees will go toward the fund. Donations to the fund are also welcome.
Mr. Calero is one of the pillars of Philippine advertising. His more than 30-year career at J. Walter Thompson, beginning in 1958, includes eight years as Chairman, fifteen years as President, and seven years as the first Filipino Regional Director International Vice President for Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, and the Philippines. Additionally, Mr. Calero helped begin the Communication program at the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) together with the late Mr. Tony Mercado, former Chairman and CEO of Basic Advertising.
Tambuli is a project of the School of Communication of UA&P in collaboration with the industry. A distinctive award show that honors sustainability and purpose that works, Tambuli recognizes the effectiveness of sustainability and corporate purpose initiatives, and brand purpose campaigns that address world problems for the common good of humanity.
The Regular deadline for the APAC Tambuli Awards 2023 is set for April 10, 2023, while the Final deadline is on April 21. Materials released between January 01, 2022, and December 31, 2022, are eligible to enter. Campaigns that ran in 2021 that have not been previously entered may also be submitted. The awards night will be held at the Grand Hyatt Manila on June 06. Entry forms may be downloaded at www.tambuliawards.asia.
