MANILA, PHILIPPINES — With the highly-anticipated AD STARS 2021 fast approaching, Philippine agencies are gearing up with a total of 96 Filipino entries that are in the running for the final reveal of winners. AD STARS is one of the biggest international shows in the advertising space, typically held in Busan, South Korea. But this year, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the show will be pushing through online as it awards this season’s best works in creativity and advertising.

This year, a total of 1,726 finalists from 54 countries were unveiled, approximately 9% of submitted entries from all around the world. Out of this list, 96 works are from the Philippines, scoring more than last year’s 85 finalists.

The out-of-the-box film, which has already received a number of accolades throughout the awards season, has been included in the lineup for Diverse Insights, PR, Branded Entertainment Videos, and Branded Viral Videos categories.

Plus, the agency’s work for the Danes brand has also gotten a phenomenal run in the shortlist, with 7 entries making the cut from a variety of campaigns. On top of that, its Greenwich Pizza “Apologetic Prerolls” campaign also proved to be a hit with 7 spots.
“The Dissolving Bottle” by BBDO Guerrero is another standout campaign this year, with 6 spots across the 2021 shortlist. Its ingenious initiative to re-design traditional shampoo packaging with a 100% Filipino and zero plastic design has earned it a place in the Design, Media, Outdoor, and Direct categories.

It’s undeniably a great lineup for Philippine creativity at this year’s AD STARS program, and we’re only a little less than a month away to see which works will bring the trophy home. All shortlisted entries will now proceed to the Final Judging stage, where the jury will determine which campaigns have exhibited the best and most impressive forms of creativity and advertising. The winners will then be unveiled online on August 27, 2021.
