ESSEN, GERMANY – Interbrand, a world-leading brand consultancy, receives the title of honour “Red Dot: Agency of the Year 2020”. Since 2002, the agency has consistently won over the jury for the Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design throughout the years with its outstanding design achievements.
From strategy to implementation, the company has effectively guided globally successful brands to create ‘Iconic Moves’ that transform perceptions and drive business growth. Interbrand picked up a total of five distinctions in 2020 alone – a testament to the agency’s creative know-how and ability to create exceptional results.
Years of consistent success
The title of honour “Red Dot: Agency of the Year” is the highest distinction in the Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design. Every year, it is awarded to an agency that particularly impresses the jury with its outstanding design quality. As a brand consultancy that has won a total of 45 awards since 2002, Interbrand fits this definition perfectly. The agency has even received the Red Dot: Best of the Best from the Red Dot Jury on three different occasions. For example, the Interbrand Madrid team received the distinction for the video “Mahou: Living Life to the Fullest”, created for the beer brand “Mahou”. The award for high design quality also went to the Seoul office for the brand concept “Imagine Your Korean Food” for the Korea National Tourism Organisation. And the Tokyo office were recipients of the Red Dot: Best of the Best for the branding “We Never Drop the Ball” for the Japan Volleyball League Organisation.
“Nowadays, your brand is a customer retention tool. Stringent and strong brand management is more important than ever before, as this is the only way for customers to benefit from security, consistency and identifiability. These aspects are hugely important in today’s fast-paced digital world. I am excited that this is precisely the approach taken by Interbrand, a company that is revolutionising the discipline of brand management. They are well-deserved winners of the Red Dot: Agency of the Year 2020 title of honour. I want to congratulate the whole team very sincerely on this wonderful success,” said Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and CEO of Red Dot.
Andy Payne’s response to the win
Andy Payne, Global Chief Creative Officer at Interbrand, was delighted to receive the award and agreed with Zec’s sentiments: “The fundamentals of brand building have not only changed but accelerated drastically in the last few years. Now, an always-on, dynamic and customer centric approach is essential. Customers’ expectations move faster than businesses, meaning that brands need to take bold moves in order to build trust, focus on what’s essential and provide meaning for their customers. Our goal is to help our clients create these bold moves, and to lead in times of change. Being recognised as Red Dot: Agency of the Year 2020 not only reflects this change, but it showcases that Interbrand’s work is consistently delivering at a high-quality standard across the organisation.”
Interbrand: a pioneer in brand building
Founded by John Murphy as ‘Novamark’ in London in 1974, Interbrand has been part of Omnicom since 1993. With 15 offices in 14 countries including the United States, Brazil, South Korea, Japan, the United Kingdom and Germany, the brand consultancy implements projects for its 500 clients all across the globe. Customers such as BMW, Deutsche Telekom, Juventus and Samsung put their trust in the unparalleled competency of the Interbrand creatives.
Interbrand’s culture is underpinned by its values – what the agency calls its ‘Behaviours.’ They are “Lead with Love”, “Speak Up”, “Make it Happen” and “Be Brave” – all embraced by its employees. This has created a global community that is in constant dialogue and exchanges knowledge. For example, this knowledge is generated and shared through game-changing initiatives such as Interbrand’s annual Best Global Brands Report, which analyses the 100 most valuable global brands, as well as through the company’s very own Academy – its global center for excellence in learning, development and aspiration. “Knowledge is our creativity,” sums up Andy Payne.
