Isobar Create 32 Hackathon launches across Asia Pacific

ASIA-PACIFIC – SINGAPORE, JANUARY 30, 2013 – Isobar is launching Isobar Create 32, the first "hackathon" to take place in Singapore next month, with Australia and China to follow within the next few months. Create 32 is an initiative by NowLab, Isobar’s innovation accelerator, which is designed to get world-class innovation out into market, faster than previously possible.

“The purpose behind Isobar Create is to connect brands and clients with local, entrepreneurial developers to generate an understanding of how innovation can enhance business objectives and creativity. We want to share how new interactive frontiers can exist within consumer engagement,” said Jean Lin, CEO and global chief strategy officer of Isobar APAC.

TUS Isobar will host Singapore’s first Near Field Communication-themed hackathon, which challenges developers to create their own NFC apps within 32 hours, to win prizes. The event will run from 10:00am on Saturday, February 23 until 7:00pm on Sunday, February 24. Up to 60 developers will be able to compete at Microsoft’s offices on One Marina Boulevard for the honor of winning the competition, along with prizes from headline sponsor, Samsung. Participants will develop their apps before pitching them to an esteemed panel of judges from the digital and tech world.

“Create 32 gives tech enthusiasts a great platform to demonstrate their passion for NFC technology, and to explore innovative uses of it, be it for transactional purposes, exchanging digital content, or simply to connect devices like never before. TUS Isobar is thrilled to have the opportunity to host the first of its kind event in Singapore, and we are grateful to our partners for their support,” said Prakash Kamdar, CEO of TUS Isobar Singapore.

“Technology is changing the way that people live their lives and the way that they interact with brands and businesses. Isobar NowLab exists to help businesses harness the power of new technologies and benefit from it. Simply put, it is an innovation accelerator. With Create 32, we aim to push the boundaries of NFC applications for brands and their consumers,” said Arvind Sethumadhavan, regional practice leader for social and ROI analytics at Isobar APAC.

Isobar Create 32 Singapore is held in partnership with Samsung, OCBC Bank, Microsoft, the AsiaOne network, Clear Channel, Carat Media, 3E Gadgets, and is supported by iDA Singapore.
