KUALU LUMPUR, MALAYSIA — Shining alongside some of the globe’s best virtual reality brands, Entropia EXR and Telekom Malaysia Berhad’s (TM) TM ONE XR City was shortlisted in the 5th International VR Awards’ VR Enterprise Solution of the Year category – awarded to companies or individuals who have demonstrated practical and innovative uses of Virtual Reality (VR) as an enterprise solution.

The Virtual Experience City was created by Entropia’s extended reality division, EXR, to show off the brand’s digital transformation solutions in an abstract smart city visualisation.

Hosted by a specially-created 3D virtual guide named TOMI, EXR built a robust platform for TM’s Business to Business (B2B) arm. A solution suitable for our times, TM ONE’s XR City is built to reach its audience regardless of rapid changing SOPs and challenges. Users could familiarise themselves with the brand’s strengths and solutions through mixed mediums such as full VR content (for Oculus 2), virtual immersive web on web or mobile, 360-walkthroughs and also virtual games for an engaging, informative experience. The platform, initially used to complement TM ONE’s LEAP SUMMIT 2020, is part of an ongoing relationship, and was integrated into the revamped corporate website in early 2021.

Azida Mohamed Burhan, head marketing & customer experience at TM ONE, said, “Up until recently, we brought our TM ONE brand and solutions to life through physical interactions at our 20,000 square feet Experience Centre. When the pandemic hit, we had to immediately redefine our customer experience journey to adapt to these changes and shifting client needs. Through a strong collaboration with EXR, we reimagined our vision into a well-designed, easily scalable technology platform, paired with improved processes and efficiencies to save costs. The result: a 360 Virtual Experience City that not only visualises our enterprise and public sector aspirations for professional smart services, cybersecurity, cloud and connectivity solutions, but also garnered this global recognition. We are humbled and will continue to enhance and expand our TM ONE XR City to cover more solutions and cater to the digital needs of our customers, befitting TM Group’s aspiration to enable Digital Malaysia.”

Celebrating its 5th anniversary this year, the VR Awards will once again gather the biggest innovators across industries and locations to spotlight projects that redefined the immersive world. And true to its nature, millions will have access to the virtual ceremony on 18 November 2021 from a browser, phone or VR headset to see EXR and TM ONE compete with: Arthur; Light&Shadows; Make Real Ltd; Masters of Pie; Orka; and Spinview.

Graham Williams, principal at EXR, added, “Globally users have been crying out for a user experience that meets their learning style, needs and lifestyle. Extended Reality (XR) is that solution. AR, VR and gamification are no longer a mere pastime, but a key way of engaging a distracted workforce and audience, and matching a brand’s expectations. Its growing accessibility is what inspired us to adopt a virtual, blended solution for TM ONE’s Experience Centre. Reducing users’ reliance on physical limited resources and one-on-one expertise, XR improves the quality of the sales funnel and ensures that our client’s conversion is maximised. Matching the TM ONE team’s ambition, passion and vision with our ‘know how’ allowed us to push the boundaries of ingenuity, and earned the brand a mention next to giants like Facebook, Accenture, HTC, Virtualware and Ubisoft.”

Over the next three (3) months, each finalist will be judged by a panel of over 70 of the world’s most respected and experienced experts in the VR industry (90%) including Entropia partner and head of EXR, Ramakrishnan CN, together with other expert academics, journalists, creative directors, founders, and C-Suite executives in various VR sectors; as well as public voting (10%) on a points-based system.

Commenting on his role as an awards judge, Ramakrishnan said, “As lockdowns and social distancing have increased our dependence on technology, it has also induced a more mainstream diffusion of VR. Consumers’ widespread acceptance of the technology has greatly contributed to the calibre of work that makes up this year’s finalists. And I’m honoured to judge their submissions among some of the most renowned industry-leading creatives in virtual reality.”
