MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The Philippine Institute of Cyber Security Professionals (PICSPro) Chairman and Founding President Angel Redoble recently bagged the first-ever Visionary CISO Award from CISOs Connect, an exclusive professional community of trusted Chief Information Security Officers (CISO) and cybersecurity leaders in the USA.
The esteemed Board of Judges gave this first-of-its-kind honor by recognizing the “Top 100 CISOs” for their leadership in the cybersecurity space across the United States. Subsequent to his having been named as the only non-US-based CISO awardee, Redoble was also invited to become part of the Board of Judges to assess and select the Top 100 CISOs.
The peer-driven decision by the Distinguished Board of Judges represents the highest standards for involvement in cybersecurity programs, academic training and grooming of future cybersecurity professionals, and volunteerism and activism for security in the digital space.
As a leading CISO in the Philippines where PLDT is the country’s largest telecommunications company, Redoble not only works tirelessly to secure his organization but also with the support of his organization, gives back to the community. He teaches and has established training to ensure that the future generation is prepared to take on the task of securing not only their communities but communities globally. He has been instrumental in the fight against online sexual exploitation of children in the Philippines where they recently closed 30,000 malicious sites that link to such heinous activities of criminals and other illicit materials.
“I am honored to work closely with leading CISOs in the United States to pay tribute to their peers who are dedicated to making the world safer and ultimately a better place,” said Angel Redoble, FVP & Group CISO for PLDT and ePLDT & Smart Communications – the leading telecommunications and Internet service provider in the Philippines. “As someone who has dedicated himself to advancing the field of cybersecurity at home and abroad, it is fulfilling to be providing a global perspective to such a venerable board.”
“This honor and recognition only encourage and will further prepare me in the next chapter of my journey—that is, to bring to bear all that I know and have experienced to elevate my motherland’s overall cybersecurity posture and to actively contribute to constantly improving the global state of cybersecurity,” Redoble said.
“Members of the Board and Angel’s colleagues here in PICSPro warmly extend our congratulations to him for this marvelous feat – a win in the PH cybersecurity space as we embark on our journey of scaling up the global cybersecurity standards ladder,” PICSPro National President Ashley Acedillo shared. “Our organization hopes that this inspires more Filipinos, young and old, to help protect the digital space of the Philippines as we move forward towards a more digital economy,” Acedillo added.
