MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Leading independent ideas agency GIGIL had a monumental 2020, having been labeled by Campaign AOY not only as the “Philippines Independent Agency of the Year” but also the “Philippines Creative Agency of the Year.” In 2021, the company is soaring to even greater heights.

Presented by global media publication Ad Age, the Small Agency Awards honors agencies around the world with up to 150 employees for creativity, culture, and business results. This year, GIGIL was awarded the gold medal in the International Agency of the Year category—winning over all small agencies outside of the United States.

Earlier this year, GIGIL was awarded Bronze at the 2021 Cannes Lions for its work on RC Cola’s “Family.” YouTube also gave “Family” both the David and Grand Prix awards in the 2021 YouTube Works, saying that it was a “unique and refreshing creative that truly stood out in the many COVID-19 focused ads in 2020.” The campaign has also won two silvers in the AdFest, and the AWARD Awards of Australia, while GIGIL’s other work for RC Cola, “Band” won gold in the latter event.

The agency’s other award-winning pieces this year include “Dear Pa” for PLDT Home, winning at the 18th Philippine Quill Awards, and “SHOP2GIVE 3” for Unilever, which was given gold at the 2021 Marketing-Interactive PR Awards.

But that’s not where it ends.

“Comedians,” GIGIL’s work for mental health hub Padayon, was officially selected by The One Show Asia Showcase. The team also celebrated having the most number of Philippine finalists at Spikes Asia, getting shortlisted six times for work for RC Cola, Padayon, Greenwich, and 7-Eleven CLiQQ. The agency’s campaigns “Family” and “Whatever” were given merit, and were shortlisted at The One Show, while “Auntie Shamer” for Julie’s Bakeshop were named finalists twice at the New York Festivals.

With over 25 acceptances to Campaign Brief Asia’s “The Work” and 42 finalists in AD STARS 2021, GIGIL definitely has more in store for the rest of the year. Learn more about GIGIL from its website.
