Awards: IABC Philippines presents its first virtual Quill Awards titled “Arise”

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The International Association of Business Communicators Philippines (IABC Philippines), presents the first virtual Philippine Quill Awards, the first of its kind awarding ceremony in the recognition program’s 18-year run. Entitled ARISE, the Philippine Quill Awards will honor 408 entries from professional and student communicators which exemplified the Quills’ global standards of excellent, effective, and purposeful business communication.

“We are pleased with the record number of entries in 2020, particularly recognizing campaigns and projects related to Covid19 communications from various organizations in Philippine society. These efforts are proof of the resilience of our people, and of the students and professional communicators who created narratives and campaigns that continue to help us bravely navigate the challenges of the pandemic, unprecedented in its impact, but which – the Quill entries have shown, brought out the best in us,” says Mr. Jeff Tarayao, Chairman of the 18th Philippine Quill Awards and President of One Meralco Foundation.

Prior to the awards night, which is recognized as the most prestigious awards program in the field of business communications, contenders for the top awards were announced. They are De La Salle University College of St. Benilde, De La Salle University – Dasmariñas, Far Eastern University, UST Angelicum College, and the University of Santo Tomas, all vying for School of the Year Award.

At the professional level, vying for the Top Company Award are the Manila Electric Company, Megaworld Corporation, PLDT, Smart Communications, Inc., and UnionBank of the Philippines.

For Top Agency, the nominees are DDB Group Philippines, Evident, ComCo Southeast Asia, Comm&Sense, Inc. and PAGEONE.

For the professional level, vying for the Top Award for Communication Management, are Meralco, SMART Communications Inc., and Insular Life Assurance Company, Inc. . Companies or agencies vying for the Top Award for Communication Research include Energy Development Corporation, Evident, Metro Pacific Investments Corporation, and Philcare. For Communication Training and Education, the nominees are GMA Network Inc, MEGAWORLD Corporation, SMART Communications Inc. and Unionbank of the Philippines.

Finally, for the Top Award for Communication Skills, the nominees are Investor Relations Global Inc., MEGAWORLD Corporation, Metrobank Foundation, Inc. and PLDT, Inc.. All entries were evaluated using IABC’s Global seven-point Scale of Excellence from 1 to 7, with 7 being the highest, as applied to projects under public relations, marketing, advertising, journalism and other related fields of business communication. All results are validated by the official tabulator Reyes Tacandong & Co.

The 18th Philippine Quill Awards will be broadcasted via Youtube on March 25, Thursday at 6:00 PM. Gold sponsors include Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Inc., foodpanda Philippines, Ginebra San Miguel, and Metro Pacific Investment Corporation. Silver sponsors are One Meralco Foundation, and Unionbank of the Philippines, and bronze sponsors include EON Inc., Maynilad Water Services, Inc.

Celebrating its 38th year in 2020, it continues to uphold excellence in business communication through masterclasses and other learning activities that equip its member professionals with trends and global-standard communication skills and strategies. It is also behind the CEO EXCEL Award program, which honors brilliant and results-focused communication initiatives and strategies implemented by the country’s chief executive officers, presidents, managing directors, charity founders, government officers – among others, to achieve organizational goals.
