MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has received recognition for demonstrating excellence in stakeholder communication at the recently concluded Gold Quill Awards, one of the most celebrated awards programs in business communication worldwide.
Meralco is one of the five Philippine entities that received Gold Quills from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), an international organization of communication professionals.
The power distributor’s 2020 Corporate Reports bagged an Award of Excellence; while Meralco Corporate Partners Viber Community: Engagement When Connectivity is a Must earned an Award of Merit.
The 2020 Corporate Reports integrated entry include Meralco’s annual reports Power On, Live Life, and Give Hope, which successfully kept stakeholders well-informed about the key developments in the company particularly on in its financial and operational performance, sustainability programs and activities, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
Through Power On, Meralco stakeholders were informed about the company’s efforts and its dedication to service excellence – bringing light to homes, businesses, and COVID-19 treatment facilities, while streamlining its operations and driving a digital transformation to elevate customer experience as the country navigates through the new normal.
Meanwhile, Live Life underscored Meralco’s commitment to incorporating sustainability by providing accessible, affordable, reliable, and clean power while protecting and preserving the planet and creating prosperity for all.
Give Hope, a report by Meralco’s social development arm One Meralco Foundation, highlighted the distribution giant’s efforts in bringing light and hope to communities within and beyond its franchise area through programs centered on household and school electrification, energy education, environmental protection, and responsible citizenship.
Meanwhile, Meralco Corporate Partners Viber Community was awarded for successfully engaging its corporate partners by providing energy-related updates that impact their businesses and operations – in line with the company’s promise of putting customers at the heart of its operations, while aiming to become an end-to-end energy solutions partner.
Through the Viber Community, Meralco was able to achieve significant penetration of its corporate base, with hundreds of members joining the community, most of which are Meralco’s corporate customers.
Results showed that Meralco was hitting the right target audience, with most viewed and most engaged posts reflecting topics that impact their business operations. It also registered a substantial reduction in hotline calls, and cut operational expenses.
IABC’s Gold Quill Awards recognizes excellence in strategic communication worldwide, and honors the dedication, innovation, and passion of communicators on a global scale. Since its launch in 2008, more than 4,400 projects have been entered in the tilt and evaluated by international professional communicators.
