Awards: Tanduay named brand of the year for 7th consecutive year by London-based World Branding Forum

MANILA, Philippines— The Lucio Tan (LT) Group’s Tanduay was named Brand of the Year 2021-2022 at the recent World Branding Awards at Kensington Palace. Tanduay was the only brand to receive such an award under the Alcoholic Beverages – Rum category.

The recognition was given by the prestigious World Branding Forum, a registered global non-profit organization based in London. It held its ceremony online this year, with television presenter Jemma Forte as host.

Five hundred brands from more than 60 countries were named Brand of the Year for different categories. Out of all the brands, Among the national-tier winners from other countries were Telstra from Australia, Bangkok Bank from Thailand, ToastBox from Singapore, and Carrefour from France, among others.

“As we further expand our business in other countries, we are honored to receive these international recognitions from esteemed organizations such as the World Branding Forum. Very few brands from each country are chosen to the Brand of the Year, and we are ecstatic to be aligned with such great brands,” said Lucio Tan III, President and COO of Tanduay.

The World Branding Forum also declared Global Winners in its first online ceremony. Among them were Spotify, Zoom, Yakult, Netflix, and Amazon.

“Twenty-twenty one has been extremely difficult for businesses worldwide. COVID-19 forced many brands to adapt to a new normal, and the Awards celebrate the efforts these businesses have put into their branding and marketing. Each winner has won the love and trust of their consumers and the Awards are a testament to it,” said Richard Rowles, Chairman of the World Branding Forum.

More than 1.3 million consumer votes have been received since the inception of the Awards and this year more than 345,000 consumes participated in the nomination process globally.

The World Branding Awards requires 70 percent of consumer participation to find the public’s favorite brand, and Tanduay has remained ahead of the rum category in the Philippines for years. It is considered an iconic brand and household name in the country, and is also making inroads in the rum markets of other countries.

“We owe our success to our customers, especially our Filipino consumers. Tanduay wouldn’t have lasted for more than 167 years if not for their support. It is with their satisfaction in mind that we create our products and make sure that we offer them only the best wherever they are in the world,” Tan said.

Tanduay is one of the most awarded rums in the world. It has received more than 100 international awards and superior ratings from top organizations.
