SHANGHAI, CHINA — TBWA\Media Arts Lab Shanghai’s “The Comeback” bagged the prize for the Best Short for Tribeca X during the 21st annual Tribeca Festival in New York City. The festival celebrates and recognizes creative excellence in experience storytelling, independent film, and media.
“The Comeback” is a 23-minute heartwarming story that TBWA\Media Arts Lab Shanghai created for Apple. Shot entirely on an iPhone, the short film directed by Zhang Meng is a thrilling tale that chronicles the adventures of a disheartened aspiring filmmaker, his father, and residents of a forgotten village. In their quest to bring fame and recognition to their fading village, they set out to create an out-of-this-world movie that’ll make it hard to ignore.
The immersive film does not only pull at heartstrings, it also offers gorgeous scenes, fun Kung Fu segments, and feel-good comedy. This Chinese New Year Ad became the perfect way for Apple to kick off the Year of the Tiger.
This is also the second year in a row that TBWA\Media Arts Lab’s Shanghai office has won the Shorts category.
