NEW YORK, USA – IFI – the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers announced the winners for the second edition of its IFI DDA – Design Distinction Awards, a global design competition featuring the today’s best-of-the-best designed projects, at a virtual awards ceremony on Feb. 21, 2022. From a sustainable, community-centered school catering to 400 girls under the poverty line in Rajasthan, India; the modernization of Parisian barracks as a means of regenerating the city; to a private wine cave excavated into limestone along a secluded river bend in the USA; and a new typology self-service store for online shopping customers in Finland, the IFI DDA 2022 winners showcase the diversity of Interiors practice and immense value of high-quality architecture worldwide.
The IFI Design Distinction Awards form part of IFI GAP – Global Awards Program, recognizing and awarding excellence in the design outcome of built projects, compiling a repository of projects that will continue to impact the discipline at the world level for years to come. This year’s edition gathered a record-breaking number of outstanding entries from over 50 countries across all world regions.
Over 150 IFI DDA 2022 Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards were presented in 10 categories: Commerce, Habitat, Health, Humanitarian, Learning, Play, Stay, Student, Sustainability and Work. The IFI GAP 2022 ceremony featured preeminent leaders of Interior Architecture/Design, who comprised IFI’s leadership and the prestigious IFI GAP 2022 international jury.
Namely, the IFI DDA 2022 Jury featured a stellar selection of international Interior Architecture/Design practitioners and, for the first time, a media jurors comprised of leaders from top international design publications/platforms. This panel of luminaries included: Steve Leung, IFI Past-President 2020-2022; Steve Leung Design Group – SLD (Hong Kong SAR, China) (Jury Chair); Soo K. Chan, SCDA Architects (Singapore); Randy Howder, Gensler (USA); Marcio Kogan and Renata Furlanetto, Studio MK27 (Brazil); Amanda Stanaway, Woods Bagot (Australia); Paul Tange, Tange Associates (Japan); Adam Tihany and Alessia Genova, Tihany Design (USA); George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg, Yabu Pushelberg (Canada); and Woody Yao, Zaha Hadid Design – ZHD (UK); Media jurors: Sarah Douglas, Wallpaper* (UK); Paul Keskeys, Architizer (USA); and Jessica Ma, Designwire (China).
IFI proudly partnered with world-renowned Zaha Hadid Design and Citco for the design and production of Gold Award winners’ IFI DDA 2022 trophies. Carved from a singular orthogonal block, the trophies maintain a direct relationship with each other; embodying the spirit of collaboration and cooperation that leads to exceptional and distinct designs.
