MANILA, PHILIPPINES — For almost 20 years, the Asia Pacific Tambuli Awards has been a stage on which businesses and brands with a purpose have been celebrated and empowered. Last June 06, during the awards ceremony at the Grand Hyatt Manila, the Tambuli Awards recognized which entrants exemplified what it means to lead with purpose this year.
The Commission on Human Rights and Wunderman Thompson Philippines were the stars of the show as the night’s big winners, going home with the Advertiser of the Year and the Agency of the Year titles respectively.
Clinching the win for the two awardees was “Commission on Human Rights – Right the Ride: Jeepneys Against Misogyny” by Wunderman Thompson Philippines. The campaign that championed women amidst the proliferation of sexist and objectifying signage in public transportation got two Silvers under Champions of Humanity and two Golds under Builders of Society.
Also winning big was the leadership of Procter & Gamble Philippines, from which both Young Marketing Leader of the Year Ralph Paulo Morales and Chief Marketing Officer of the Year Kristine Tang Chan hail.
More notable wins include this year’s only two Grand Prix winners. “EDC: Greening a Regenerative Future of Energy” by Energy Development Corporation was awarded the Grand Prix for the Care for the Environment category under Leaders for Sustainability and Corporate Purpose. Meanwhile, snatching the Building Character | Integrated Media Grand Prix under Champions for Humanity is Nestlé Philippines and Publicis Manila for the “Bear Brand Hidalgo Purpose Campaign.”
This year’s Asia Pacific Tambuli Awards came with new clusters and categories, all inspired by the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. The categories fall under new clusters Champions for Humanity, Builders of Society, and Leaders for Sustainability and Corporate Purpose. Additionally, the awards show introduced the Sustainability & Corporate Purpose division.
