PARIS, FRANCE — As the final deadline for the 2024 Gerety Awards approaches on May 10, the Gerety jury prepares to select the East Asia Agency and Production Company of the Year.
To be awarded, entrants must submit a single reel that includes three different pieces of work from the past 12 months. The film must not exceed five minutes.
Jury member Piper Hickman, Executive Creative Director at McKinney, shared her excitement about judging the Gerety Awards, emphasizing her desire to experience a diverse range of global work that pushes creative boundaries. She stated, “Exposure to global work that I might not otherwise see – that’s what I’m most looking forward to when it comes to judging the Gerety Awards. I can’t wait to step out of all the algorithms that dictate what I’m exposed to and immerse myself in a world of novelty and, hopefully, mind-blowing creativity.”
Eurydice Gysel, Managing Partner and Executive Producer at Czar, Brussels, expressed her criteria for judging films, highlighting the importance of humor, the relevance of having the director’s personal and unique touch, and emotional depth. She stated, “I’m looking for films that make me laugh. Films with a director’s signature on it. Films that surprise me and make me realize that commercials can be much more than images and messages. I’m looking for films with deep emotions. Films with exceptional imagery. Everyone can copy and put pictures together, but they seldom make a great movie. I’m looking for those great movies.”
The 2024 Gerety Awards final deadline is May 10.
