MANILA, PHILIPPINES — To culminate this year’s program, ADFEST held the second Lotus Awards night, where 1,587 entries were received across several categories. 63 jury members from 23 cities were organized into seven groups, chaired by Malcolm Poynton, Global Chief Creative Officer at Cheil Worldwide, to decide the ADFEST 2024 Lotus Awards winners.

With several impressive entries hailing from the Philippines, three outstanding agencies were awarded much-earned metals:

  • GIGIL — Outdoor Lotus, Gold winner; Film Lotus, Bronze winner; third place Independent Agency of the Year; and fifth place Southeast Asia Agency of the Year
  • MullenLowe Treyna — Sustainable Lotus, Silver winner; second place PR Agency of the Year
  • TBWA\ Santiago Mangada Puno — Outdoor Lotus, Bronze winner

Gigil

For the Outdoor Lotus category, 76 pieces of work were entered. GIGIL bagged the sole Gold award for its Netflix campaign titled “4Dish Pot,” under the subcategory Interactive and Immersive Experiences.

Sponsor

Created to promote the Netflix limited series Replacing Chef Chico, GIGIL invited people to peek inside the show’s kitchen from the most unexpected location – inside one of its pots.

The 24-foot tall installation brought the series’ poster to life through an immersive experience where one got stewed into kare-kare by actors Sam Milby, Alessandra de Rossi, and Piolo Pascual.

Furthermore, GIGIL was also awarded a Bronze Film Lotus for “Bag,” a campaign for Mandaue Foam. The entry was submitted under the subcategory Online Film: Consumer Goods.

The campaign reminds everyone that sound sleep never goes out of style. The brand film tells the story of a fangirl staying up at night in hopes of becoming like her idol with her trendy designer eye bags — only for things to take a disappointing turn.

With these big wins, GIGIL earned itself third place as Independent Agency of the Year, and fifth place as Southeast Agency of the Year.

MullenLowe Treyna

This year, ADFEST introduced the Sustainable Lotus category to recognize the importance of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and its ambitions to drive transformational change and positively impact the world and its people.

The Sustainable Lotus category recorded a total of 55 entries in its inaugural year. MullenLowe Treyna bagged one of the four Silver awards under the “Reduced Inequalities” subcategory for its “Right to Care” initiative. “Right to Care” empowers queer couples in Quezon City to make medical decisions for their partners through a Special Power of Attorney (SPA). This recognizes the decision of the cardholders to agree, refuse, or withdraw consent to any type of medical care for their partners including treatment, procedures, tests, and prescriptions.

With this major win, as well as more Lotus Awards from the first evening, the agency placed second in the PR Agency of the Year rankings.

TBWA\SMP

Out of the 76 entries submitted under the Outdoor Lotus category, TBWA\Santiago Mangada Puno bagged one of the three Bronze metals for its entry titled “Venus Flytrap” for Boysen Bug Off Paints, under the subcategory Consumer Goods.

Philippine paint brand Boysen created Bug-Off, an anti-insect paint containing microscopic crystals that kill disease-causing insects that rest on painted walls. To raise awareness for Bug-Off, TBWA\SMP created a poster series featuring insect-eating plants such as the venus flytrap, the pitcher plant, bromeliads, and bladderworts, all made of Boysen paint. The images were created using multi-colored splashes of Bug-Off paint captured using high-powered, high-speed cameras in precise moments and trajectories

Congratulations to all the winners of ADFEST 2024.
