MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Hit Productions Inc., the multi-awarded audio production house based in Makati City with over 30 years of experience in creating sound and music for advertising, was recently recognized by the Entertainment Globalization Association (EGA) in Los Angeles for its outstanding localization work on the official Tagalog soundtrack of Disney’s Encanto. The EGA Hermes Awards, which honors the world’s best in localization and dubbing, nominated two Tagalog versions of popular Encanto songs, “Wag Ikuwento Si Bruno” and “Pag Nagigipit,” for Best Localized Song.
A relative newcomer to this industry, Hit Productions Inc. has been in the dubbing business since 2015 and provides top-quality localization services to major entertainment companies such as Disney and Netflix. The studio has worked on highly acclaimed titles such as Wednesday, Emily in Paris, and The Queen’s Gambit, which have all been praised for their exceptional localization.
Hit’s pair of nominations marked the first time a team from the Philippines was recognized for outstanding localization work on an international stage. The studio is thrilled to have been acknowledged by the EGA, which aims to foster connections between content creators and cultural adaptors through language.
The Tagalog versions of Encanto’s songs were included in the official Encanto Tagalog Soundtrack released by Disney Music Asia VEVO on YouTube last November. The soundtrack, which also features Tagalog versions of “The Family Madrigal,” “Ano Pa’ng Kaya Ko,” and “Nas’an Ang Milagro Ko?,” has garnered over 20 million views to date.
Rudolf Baldonado Jr, the studio’s Head of Localization, expressed his pride in being nominated for a dubbing award for the first time. While already a recipient of multiple awards for advertising at Cannes Lions, Spikes and LIA, the EGA Hermes Awards was a unique opportunity for Hit Productions to showcase its expertise in localization.
The EGA Hermes Awards ceremony was live-streamed on March 30, 2023, and included nominees from various dubbing companies from around the world. While the Swedish version of the title track from Trolls: TrollsTopia eventually won Best Localized Song, Hit Productions Inc. is nonetheless honored to have been recognized by the EGA and is eagerly looking forward to competing again next year.
