2024 Grand Awards

White Angel – The End of Marinka (German Television ZDF) – Documentary: – Docudrama” earned the 2024 Grand Award.  In February 2022, when Russia invaded Ukraine, suffering and death descended upon the small town of Marinka in the Donetsk region. Police officer Vasyl Pipa, alongside a team of volunteers, embarked on a mission to evacuate hundreds of people from this frontline town in eastern Ukraine. Dubbed “White Angels” by the grateful residents of Marinka, Pipa and his team operated tirelessly, with Pipa himself recording the dramatic events of their missions through a helmet camera. This is the poignant story behind the images of war and rescue captured by Pipa.

The Great Kanto Earthquake – Three Days of Ruin in Tokyo: Part 1/ Part 2 (NHK Japan Broadcasting Corporation) Documentary: – History & Society” also won big. Marking the 100th anniversary of the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923, this program offers a fresh perspective on the events surrounding the disaster, which had long been veiled in mystery. Despite the existence of filmed records from the aftermath, these recordings were flawed, making it challenging to pinpoint locations or times accurately. As a result, the reality of how the citizens of Tokyo confronted this overwhelming disaster remained obscured. The program remastered the film into 8K resolution while also making full use of audio accounts by survivors.

Finally, “La Mesías – (Movistar Plus+) Entertainment Program: – Drama.” This Spanish thriller takes the audience on an emotional and cinematic rollercoaster, delving into themes of trauma, faith, and art as a remedy for horror. The psychological mystery, framed within a family setting, unveils a gripping story never before explored. Filmed across over 30 locations and featuring a cast of more than 170 characters and 3,800 extras, it promises a truly immersive experience.
