MANILA – November 7, 2013 – On 7/11, 7-Eleven Philippines invited people to bring their wackiest containers for Bring Your Own Cup Day.

"So far we’ve seen an ice cream cone, a cute trash can, even a diaper!" 7-Eleven Philippines posted on its Facebook page.

The campaign allow customers to fill a container of their choice with a Slurpee, for 29 pesos. According to the mechanics, containers must fit through the 23×26 centimeter MaCUPyarihang Bilog (a pun on makapangyarihang bilog, powerful circle in Filipino).

Cups must also be clean, without leaks, and in a fixed shape – so plastic bags are not allowed.

7-Eleven also encouraged its customers to share photos of their cups with the hashtag #BYOCupDay for a chance to win 5,000 pesos.

Winners will be awarded under the following categories: Best/Craziest Cup, Best Use of a Household Item, and So Wrong, But So Right.

Some customers participated successfully, but a few were disgruntled, saying the 7-Eleven stores they visited were not aware of the campaign. 7-Eleven responded, assuring the customers that they would address the situation.

The Slurpee Bring Your Own Cup Day was first held in 7-Eleven Australia in 2011. Prior to the Philippine edition, Bring Your Own Cup Day was also held in Malaysia.
