GLOBAL – FRANCE, JUNE 25, 2013 – Ogilvy & Mather has become the first agency to be awarded over 100 Lions in one year, a feat achieved at the 60th Anniversary Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity.
A year of firsts for the global outfit, it also won its first ever Creative Effectiveness Award, and its first Titanium and Integrated Grand Prix.
Ogilvy and Mather takes the Network of the Year title for the second year in a row, after winning a record-breaking 155 Lions overall across 29 countries.
On the final day of awards the network took home a coveted Titanium and Integrated Grand Prix for Ogilvy Brasil’s ‘Real Beauty Sketches’ initiative, as well as: 7 Gold, 5 Silver, and 11 Bronze Lions.
Ogilvy Brasil, the Agency of the Year 2013, also took home two Gold Lions for Dove ‘Real Beauty Sketches’ in the Film, and Branded Content & Entertainment categories, bringing the total number of Lions awarded to the illustrious campaign to 16.
Meanwhile, the network won three Gold Lions in the Branded Content & Entertainment category for: Ogilvy & Mather Cape Town’s ‘Send Your Facebook Profile to Cape Town’ for Cape Town Tourism; Ogilvy New York’s ‘A Boy and His Atom’ for IBM; and ‘Secret Place’ for Perrier, by Ogilvy Paris. Ogilvy London triumphed in the Film category, landing Gold for its Dove ‘Camera Shy’ work.
"We are all stunned, shocked and thrilled to be awarded this honour for the second year running," said Tham Khai Meng, worldwide chief creative officer. "It ranks alongside being struck by lightning twice. I would like to thank everybody who contributed: the juries for their hard work and long hours; the winning teams for their passion and daring; our clients for their courage and trust; the organisers of the Cannes Lion festival for championing the creative industry with such panache. And finally, our thanks to the gods for smiling on us and providing the lightning. Winning Network of the Year, gency of the Year, four Grand Prix–including a Titanium–and a Creative Effectiveness Lion is astonishing. 155 Lions doesn’t happen everyday!"
