Established in 1982, the NYF Radio Program and Promotion Awards honors the most innovative work in radio broadcasting, with entries from radio stations, networks, and independent producers from around the globe.
“I love the truly international nature of the Radio Awards and what excited me this year was the high quality of entries from countries around the world with thought provoking and often moving content. Foreign language is no barrier to entry to these awards,” said John MacCalman, a member of the NYF Radio Awards Advisory Board and a broadcast producer/consultant from Scotland.
“The manner in which broadcasters have come to grips with the digital technological age never fails to impress. The creative talent shone through whether the broadcasting organizations had vast resources or it was just the efforts of a small team,” he added.
New categories for competition were also opened this year, including Program Open, Best Regularly Scheduled Sports Program, Best Sports Special, and Best Student Documentary. “New York Festivals continually updates the competition with categories attuned to the evolving creative environment in the broadcast community,” said Rose Anderson, executive director of New York Festivals Radio Program & Promotion Awards.
All entries were judged by the NYF Radio Program & Promotion Awards Grand Jury, consisting of radio experts from stations and companies around the globe, based on the following criteria: production value, organization, presentation of information, creativity, and use of medium.
