THE PHILIPPINES, MARCH 8, 2011: First launched in the United Kingdom in 2011, Absolut Blank is an art-based global advertising campaign, which collaborates with renowned artists to come up with their own interpretations for the distinct shape of the Absolut Vodka bottle.

The Absolut Blank campaign reached the Philippines this year through Pernod Ricard Philippines, Inc., the exclusive importer and distributor of Absolut vodka in the country. In a launch party held at White Space, Makati City, emerging local artists were commissioned for a live creative collaboration to turn an Absolut vodka bottle into an art piece. Textile and fabric artist Carlo Villafuerte; paint and mixed media specialists, Rocky Cajigan and Piaget Martelino; mixed media artist (pop and punk imagery) Mark Tandoyog; sculptor Rommel Pidazo; and mosaic art group “The Mighty Bhutens”, composed of Kabunyan de Guia, Guiller Guillac, and Oliver Olivete, treated the audience to a visual feast as they transformed the Absolut Blank “canvas” into a work of art.

Globally, Absolut encouraged greater public participation in the Absolut Blank project through an interactive iPhone app that registers and uses visual and auditory responses, which resulted into a bigger and continuously growing collection of original artwork.

Internationally acclaimed artists Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Damien Hirst, Ellen von Unwerth, and Spike Jonze have also been part of Absolut’s advertising campaigns, even as the brand continues to collaborate with artists from different disciplines to come up with unique designs for the vodka bottle.
