AccuWeather wins three W3 awards for mobile platform excellence

GLOBAL – November 1, 2013 – The International Academy of the Visual Arts (IAVA) presented AccuWeather with one Gold award for its Windows 8 mobile application platform and two Silver awards for its iPad and Android application platforms. The awards underscore AccuWeather’s dedication to providing mobile users with beautiful, detailed and intuitively designed weather applications, AccuWeather said in a press release.  
 
The 2013 W3 Awards honor outstanding websites, web marketing, web video, & mobile apps created by some of the best interactive agencies, designers, and publishers worldwide.

For more than eight years, the W3 Awards have honored creative excellence on the web and mobile web. The W3 Awards are sanctioned and judged by the IAVA, an invitation-only body consisting of top-tier professionals from leading media, advertising, and marketing firms.  
 
AccuWeather has partnerships with nine of the world’s top 10 mobile device manufacturers. Its weather apps can be found on all major mobile platforms worldwide and have been downloaded approximately 50 million times. In addition, AccuWeather’s free mobile website offers weather information in more than 100 languages for nearly three million locations worldwide; it is accessible from any mobile device with a web browser.
