MANILA – January 22, 2014 – As the advertising industry seeks to play a more valuable role in society, its members are set to enter an ‘Age of Enlightenment’ in the AD Summit Pilipinas 2014, which will take place from May 7 to 11, 2014 at the Subic Bay Exhibition and Convention Center.

The theme, conceptualized by DDB, was revealed by the AD Summit Pilipinas organizer, 4As (Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies of the Philippines) at a press conference on January 22.

The summit aims to gather advertising and marketing practitioners in the country and empower them to move with the times while breaking free from the norm in paving the way for new creative solutions.

"Creativity is relative. We all have different interpretations of what is ‘cool’, what is ‘in’, and what will or won’t hit the target, because we adhere to different ideologies and creative philosophies," said AD Summit Chair Matec Villanueva, adding that the summit aims to bridge the gap and become the melting pot of the industry’s sharpest thought leaders and future innovators.

Although the speakers lineup has not yet been released, 4As said the summit will feature ‘rock star’ speakers who are iconic, brilliant, and whose work transcends national boundaries. These include people from global networks, as well as digital experts. "We will never get enough of what’s happening in the digital world," said Villanueva.

According to 4As, the summit will be a professionally-managed and efficiently-run event with clockwork precision. "We are not going to fill it up with ten million speakers. We will bring in rock stars, give them the time and the space so that people can appreciate what they have to share," she said.

According to 4As chairman Alex Syfu, the summit’s theme calls for reflection. “Are we just happy to be game changers, or do we evolve from being a game changer to creating more meaningful advocacies for our consumers and for the country itself?” Syfu said.

Syfu commented, “It’s really a venue to share best practices from invited speakers from not just the region, but hopefully also from outside Asia Pacific. It’s a timely thing to do. We’d like 4As to be seen again as a prime mover of the industry and having an Ad Summit is definitely the start.”
