THE PHILIPPINES, JULY 6, 2012: The Agency of the Year Awards 2011 gathered its judges across seven categories today for the official judging at Makati Shangri-la.

Headed by BBDO Guerrero’s chief creative David Guerrero as chairman, the AOY Awards is one of the most significant advertising award show in the Philippines.

"The Agency of the Year Awards are for the industry, by the industry. But that doesn’t mean were easy on ourselves, this is no backslapping festival," said Guerrero.

This year’s awards welcomes the addition of Media Agency of the Year. However, award for Independent Agency of Year will not be presented as no agencies have entered this category.

"This year for the first time, we’ll be awarding a Media Agency of the Year and already the category is attracting more entries than the creative ones. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the Independent Agency of the Year, which unfortunately had no entries this year. So if any of you is thinking of starting an agency, you just had a good chance," said Guerrero.

Miguel Ramos, chairman of Aspac, which won last year’s Independent of the Agency of the Year, commented on his company’s decision to no join this year’s award:

"We’ve been working in partnership with a global agency since 4Q last year and I thought it best to not join the independent category. We will be back next year though in the main AOY."
