MANILA – November 14, 2013 – With no time to waste, people from all over the world have done their bit to help in the relief efforts following Super Typhoon Yolanda, which has left many areas in the Visayas devastated.
Those in the creative community have also come up with various ways to contribute to the relief effort. Here are some fundraising activities:
BBDO Guerrero/Proximity Philippines chief executive Tony Harris set up a fundraising page for The British Red Cross Society on JustGiving. So far, the page has raised £4,789.19. "I hoped that in a week when so many of you have produced such beautiful Christmas ads that some of the festive spirit may touch you and your agencies and you might feel like donating to help the Red Cross who are probably the organization best placed to help right now," Harris wrote on JustGiving.
A fundraising exhibit will be held on Saturday, November 16, at The Plantation bar in C. Palanca, Legaspi Village, Makati. Art Works is a non-profit organization for the victims of typhoon Yolanda which gathers and sells donated artworks. 100 percent of the proceeds will go to Red Cross.
Art Works is organized by Niño Gupana, senior copywriter of Publicis JimenezBasic and Lex Remalante, art director of Leo Burnett Manila.
The Art Works logo was created by RJ "Mr. Design Heavy" Ferrer, Senior Art Director of Publicis JimenezBasic. Ferrer also designed the logo for the Anti-Pork Barrel Million People March.
While survivors definitely need clothing, not all donated items are appropriate for everyday wear of calamity victims.
Because of this, The Philippine Red Cross, created Aid Couture, a unique used-clothes fashion fundraiser. The clothes are cleaned using Ariel detergent and Downy fabric freshener, then sorted and styled with help from top stylists.
These are then sold to the public in order to raise funds for future relief efforts.
Apol Sta. Maria’s Oil on Canvas
Liongoren Gallery and Apol Sta. Maria will donate all proceeds of sales from Apol Sta. Maria’s "Oil on Canvas" show, which opens on Saturday, November 16. There will also be a donation box at the gallery. Donations will be delivered to the victims in Tacloban and Samar.
Balik Bigay, Bigay Sulong initiative
Omnicom Media Group Philippines has decided to forego its 2013 Christmas and Media Suppliers parties, according to Nic Gabunada, CEO of PMG Philippines. Instead, the budget will be donated to typhoon Yolanda victims, and the company will volunteer their time to help repack relief goods. The will also continue helping in livelihood projects for victims of last year’s typhoon Pablo.
A bulk of the raffle ticket sales will be donated to Yolanda victims. Entrance to the event is free, but there will be a donation area for those who wish to donate, whether in kind or in cash.
Books by Alan Navarra
Art director and author Alan Navarra announced that 100 percent of royalties from his books Girl Trouble, Dumot, and Ang Panglimang Alas ay Nakabaon sa Iyong Dibdib for the months of November and December 2013 will be donated to relief efforts for the victims of Typhoon Yolanda.
Leeroy New’s hand-sculpted then RTV urethane cast Carapace Heel will be auctioned for the benefit of Yolanda victims. Carapace Heel is one of six pairs that New designed for the Marikina Mayor’s Gala held on November 12. Those interested can email inquiries at newleeroy@yahoo.com.
Footballitis Football Club
Footballitis Football Club, organized by Havoc Digital’s David Tuazon, will use Monday Football Nights at The Camp to raise funds for Yolanda relief efforts. Starting November 18, the pitch fee will be raised, with the difference to be donated to trusted NGOs.
Many of the exhibitors at Komikon, to be held on Saturday, November 16, are donating part or all of their proceeds to Yolanda relief efforts. 100 percent of proceeds from Elbert Or’s comics, including a new issue of Manosaur, will be donated to the relief efforts. Or is also accepting commissions of dinosaur drawings in exchange for cash donations, as part of Dinosaurs for Donations, a fundraising activity for Yolanda survivors.
Also, the cast and crew of Blue Bustamante will be at Komikon to sell posters, action figures, and shirts, to raise funds for the relief efforts.
About 16 copies of a total 200 hardcover copies of Siglo: Freedom will be sold for P1000, and 100 percent of the proceeds will go to Yolanda survivors.

Most of the sellers of the the 98B Saturday x Future Market will donate 10 to 100 percent of their sales to those devastated by typhoon Yolanda in the Visayas. Just look for the RED RIBBON on their stalls.
Items include portraits by Anjo Bolarda. Each portrait is worth P500, and the whole amount will go to the fundraising drive.
Those who donate any amount will receive a limited edition 98B "Hold On" sticker illustrated by Anjo Bolarda and produced by 98B.
Collections from these efforts will be donated in full to Red Cross Philippines.
T-shirts in Thailand
The Fil-Thai community in Bangkok, including Chairman of BBDO Bangkok, Suthisak Sucharittanonta, are designing t-shirts to help raise funds for the victims of Yolanda.
Poet-volunteers of Linangan sa Imahen, Retorika, at Anyo will hold a mini booksale for the benefit of Yolanda relief efforts during their poetry reading on November 19, 7 p.m. at Conspiracy Bar. Cash donations are welcome, as well as books that will be sold with at least 20 percent of the proceeds earmarked for donation.
