KUALA LUMPUR, DECEMBER 2011: Leading social media consultancy Blugrapes of Singapore has arrived in Malaysia.
The company started serving the Malaysian market in 2010 through Better Sdn Bhd, Facebook’s official advertising sales representative for Malaysia. Among their first clients was Maaduu.com, the first and only legal, free video-on-demand online Korean TV channel in Malaysia. Since then, Blugrapes has helped Maaduu acquire over 1.4 million Facebook fans, making its fan page Malaysia’s second largest. These fans are highly involved with the brand, averaging over 33,000 posts and comments on Facebook every week.
Freda Kwok (pictured), Blugrapes’ Lead Consultant in Malaysia says, “Malaysia counts as one of Facebook’s largest markets in Asia – 70% of all Malaysians who are online are active Facebook users. Couple that with the rapid growth of Google+ and Twitter, it’s very clear that social media has exploded in this market. This is a great time for local marketers to expand their advertising and marketing activities into this area, which is why we have moved into Malaysia as the first step of Blugrapes’ expansion plans into the rest of the region.”
“In Malaysia, Blugrapes aims to provide better localized solutions as branded communities of social media have local nuances, happenings, trends and habits”, Kwok added.
“Having worked with Blugrapes for the past 2 years, we are excited that they have decided to set up operations in Malaysia. As one of the most impressive social media agencies in the region, Malaysian clients will definitely benefit from their in-depth knowledge, strategic know-how and technical capabilities,” said René Menezes, Chief Executive Officer of Better Sdn Bhd.
Blugrapes, founded in Singapore in 2006, was one of only two pioneering agencies that introduced Facebook as a marketing platform to brand marketers in Singapore. Its clients include Citibank, Maybank, Coca-Cola, Estée Lauder, Long John Silver’s, Nando’s, Microsoft and Dulux.
