September 18, 2013 – With less than two weeks before the September 30 deadline, the 2013 Cannes Chimera Initiative once again called for entries to the competition, which seeks creative ideas for the global fight against extreme poverty.

"If you enter the Cannes Chimera initiative with a communications idea that will facilitate the global fight against extreme poverty before September 30, you could earn the unrivaled chance to work with some of the creative communications industry’s brightest minds," they said in a press release.

The challenge is to come up with an idea for a communication strategy that will help toward the goal of eliminating extreme poverty by 2030.

"It’s a huge goal, but it’s 17 years away. How do we make that goal relevant today? How do we bring it forward so that people care about it, so that people think about it, and so that people want to see it get accomplished?" said Tom Scott, director, Global Brand & Innovation, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Those whose ideas are selected will go to Seattle for a workshop with the 2013 Cannes Chimera, including the following:

"The creative community has told us that they want this kind of competition. That they want to put their creativity against solving the world’s biggest problems. Well this is the chance," Scott said.
