MANILA – January 6, 2013 – Colombian visual artist Nicolas Consuegra will be at the Metropolitan Museum of Manila on January 18 for an interaction and open forum as part of the museum’s artist-in-residency program.
Consuegra is the MET’s first artist under the program. He will be hosted by the museum from January 15 to 30, in partnership with the Asiaciti Trust and the Latin American Roaming Art (LARA) project.
Consuegra hails from Colombia and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Universidad de los Andes in Bogota, and a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from Pratt Institute in New York.
In 2012, he was awarded the LARA Prize. He is also co-founder and member of the editorial board of Revista Asterisco, an artist-run visual arts magazine from Colombia.
According to the artist’s website, "Nicolás is interested developing projects that are sensitive to time, place, and audience."
The Metropolitan Museum of Manila Artist Residency Program (MMM-ARP) aims foster an exchange of multi-cultural perspectives and contexts for understanding various art forms, expressions, content, and issues of contemporary art around the world.
