Campaign Spotlight: R/GA Opens an Online Shop with Exclusive Merch Collaborations from Designers to Give Back to Local Businesses

NEW YORK — As most businesses have been forced to temporarily cease operations due to the widespread pandemic, design company R/GA launched Merch Aid to support those heavily impacted in these uncertain times.

As the name suggests, “Merch Aid” is an initiative wherein artists and designers collaborate with small businesses to create exclusive merchandise together to sell online. 100% of these profits go back to the businesses.

In its first week, the project has raised over $40,000, and now, almost a month in, it has grown its network of businesses to include bars, barbershops, cinemas, dimsum stands, nail salons, laundry mats, and a lot more. Vibrant shirts and tote bags have been designed especially for each shop, with the proceeds of each merchandise going to the designated business.

Launched in New York, the project aims to expand to Austin and Los Angeles in the near future to support even more local businesses.
