PARIS – November 27, 2013 – In the 2013 Epica Awards there were Epica d’Or (grand prix) winners from Denmark, Namibia, Tunisia and Turkey. The most successful country was France with 75 awards. Epica is judged by journalists from the marketing and communications press worldwide.
The headline results:
• Network of the Year: Leo Burnett with 32 awards including 9 golds.
• Agency of the Year: Forsman & Bodenfors with 15 awards
including 3 golds.
• France topped the country rankings, with 75 awards, including 17 golds.
Grand Prix
• FILM: Danish agency &Co for its “Made From Cool” campaign for fashion brand Jack & Jones.
• PRESS: Namibian agency Advantage Y&R for the Land Rover Defender.
• OUTDOOR: Havas Worldwide Turkey for its “Music of the People” image for Açik Radio.
• INTERACTIVE: Memac Ogilvy Label Tunisia for the “Mobilizing the 12th Man” app for football club C.S. Hammam-Lif.
Entrants & entries by country
Epica went global last year and once again there was a dynamic mixture of entries from all over the world. This year a total of 540 agencies from 67 countries participated, including newcomers from Chile, Peru, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Korea, Thailand and Vietnam. In fact, entries from outside Europe rose by 4% this year.
Results by country
France knocked Germany off the top slot in the country rankings with 75 awards, followed by the UK (52), Sweden (40) and then Germany (19). Top nonâ€European performers were the United States (18 awards), Brazil (12), China and Australia (11 each), who are all in the top ten.
Most successful agencies
Forsman & Bodenfors was the Agency of the Year with 15 awards including 3 golds. Meanwhile, DDB Paris won 12 awards, including 3 golds, while the UK’s AMV BBDO scored 16 awards, 8 silver and 8 bronze, but no golds.
Most successful networks
With its 9 gold awards and 32 awards in total, Leo Burnett is Epica’s bestâ€performing Network of the Year. It was closely followed by Havas Worldwide with 31 awards including 6 golds. BBDO also performed brilliantly with a total of 35 awards, 2 of which were golds. Y&R and DDB complete the top five.
Total awards
In addition to the four Epica d’Or (Grand Prix), 67 gold awards, 164 silvers and 164 bronzes were awarded in 2013.
Awards ceremony
The Epica Awards ceremony and International Creative Circle will take place in Delhi at the Kingdom of Dreams on Friday, January 24th 2014. A full programme of speakers and topics will be announced at a later date. The event will be hosted by our Indian partner exchange4media.
Epica Book
Full results of the 2013 awards will be published in the 27th annual Epica Book, sent out to all entrants in August/September 2014. All winners will be shown in the 400†page yearbook, together will a good selection of other highâ€scoring entries. The book will also be available for purchase in leading design bookstores.
