HONG KONG – November 28, 2013 – Global brand consultancy, FutureBrand, is expanding its presence in China, beginning with a new lineup of leadership in the Hong Kong office. The two key appointments reflect FutureBrand’s contemporary range of strategy and creative services and provide business in Hong Kong and Southern China close proximity to exceptional talent.
Lucien Harrington has been appointed as managing director and Young Kim as executive director creative.
Harrington brings more than fifteen years of marketing and branding experience following extended careers at both Disney and Turner Broadcasting. While at Disney (London and Hong Kong) he served as vice president marketing and was a key member of the team that launched the Disney Channel in 23 countries across Europe and Asia. More recently, as vice president of marketing, branding & communications at Turner Broadcasting Systems Asia Pacific (Hong Kong), he launched new branded businesses and developed ways to use Turner’s brands to expand customers’ choices and grow the overall pay television category.
Hong Kong based for the last decade, Harrington has built his reputation on bringing actionable and measurable benefits to the bottom lines of corporations with his breakthrough and creative solutions to business problems.
"The opportunity to join the agency that has created and built some of the world’s and China’s most revered and commercially successful brands is extremely exciting. More so perhaps, because some of the network’s most exciting thinking and approaches are generated from Asia,” said Harrington.
“With a strong ten-year track record in Hong Kong, we are in a unique position to deliver tremendous advantage to businesses and brands in Hong Kong. It’s exciting and a privilege to help companies grow and prosper not just locally but also on a global stage,” he said.
Joining in both a creative and leadership capacity is Young Kim, executive director creative. Award-winning Young spent the last 12 years at Siegel+Gale, with 10 years in New York and more recently serving as Creative Director in London.
Kim explained, “FutureBrand is a world renowned creative branding agency that challenges the status quo, and imagines how brands can be in five or 10 years’ time. As a creative, what better place to work and partner with companies who are also looking to do something visionary and game changing themselves?”
“Hong Kong is a great city, with lots of energy and dynamism. People who come and work here love to make things happen fast. The pace of life, and the constant growth and opportunity makes this a great place for innovation to happen.”
“There are a lot of studios here that do beautiful design with not much thought behind it, and others that do great strategy with poor execution, but there shouldn’t be a compromise. Having worked with some of the best creative minds in the business for some of the biggest brands in the world, I look forward to sharing my expertise with organizations here in Hong Kong and Southern China”, Kim said.
“Lucien and Young have enviable track-records in delivering value and innovation for brands and businesses across the world”, says Sarah Reiter, president, FutureBrand Asia Pacific. “These skills combined with their passion, energy, and creativity are qualities that will be in high demand by Hong Kong businesses that are looking to get ahead of the competition and create brands that resonate with consumers and stakeholders. Their appointment is a signal of positive change for FutureBrand Hong Kong and reflects our ambition to make FutureBrand the leading brand agency in Asia Pacific.”
“Together, Lucien and Young will build FutureBrand’s reputation as a centre of excellence that will deliver world class creativity for brands and businesses in Hong Kong”, Reiter concluded.
Lucien and Young commenced their new roles on 4 November.
