ASIA-PACIFIC – THAILAND, MARCH 4, 2013 – Getty Images’ Micha Schwing is presenting a Speaker Session titled "Getty Images Presents ‘On Social Photography’" at ADFEST 2013. As creative planning manager at Getty Images, Schwing explores visual trends and the changing meaning of imagery in advertising and the wider visual culture.
“We are at a fascinating moment in the evolution of photography – how it is used, and its social purpose. Thanks to the advancement of digital technology, the mobile phone and social media, people are sharing images and stories about themselves all day, every day,” said Schwing.
“This new social side of photography is changing the meaning of photography in general, and influencing how brands utilise the medium for impactful, engaging campaigns.”
In her presentation, Schwing will share insights into the fast-changing medium of photography and its impact on our day-to-day lives.
Since joining Getty Images in 2005, an essential part of Schwing’s role involves observing and analysing visual culture, and looking at what lies ahead for commercial photography, advertising and media. She shares key findings with the Getty Images team of art directors and editors who work with photographers and other contributors to ensure that the visual content created is relevant and compelling.
Schwing holds degrees in Photo-Design and Advertising and Marketing Communication, and recently completed her MA in Sociology at Goldsmiths College in London.
Getty Images Presents ‘On Social Photography’ takes place on Monday, March 18, 4:30pm.
