Globe’s Ernest Cu is CEO of the Year finalist in World Communication Awards

MANILA, September 24, 2013 – Globe Telecom president and CEO Ernest Cu has been named a finalist in the CEO of the Year category in the 2013 World Communication Awards (WCA), which honors organizations and individuals that make significant contributions to the telecoms industry.The awards are organized by Total Telecom, a leading source of news and reports of the global communications industry.

"Just being nominated is an honor in itself considering the company that I am with," Cu told adobo.

"It’s a great feeling for one’s accomplishments to be recognized on the world stage. The work we do at Globe is really game-changing and leading edge even when compared to the global industry," he said.

Last year, Cu was named CEO of the Year (Service Provider) from global business research and consulting firm Frost & Sullivan during the 9th Annual Asia Pacific ICT awards ceremony in Singapore.

Cu joins 11 other finalists from around the world vying for the award: rival Smart Communication’s Napoleon Nazareno, AT&T’s Randall Stephenson, EE’s Olaf Swantee, Gulf Bridge International’s Ahmed Mekky, Oooredoo’s Nasser Marafih, SK Telecom’s Sung Min Ha, Softbank’s Masayoshi Son, Telekom Austria’s Hannes Ametsreiter, Telenor’s Jon Frederik Baksaas, Verizon’s Lowell McAdam, and Vodafone’s Vittorio Colao.

The winner will be decided by a vote open to telecom industry professionals from across the globe. Winners of the 2013 WCA will be announced at the gala dinner to be held at The Lancaster Hotel in London on December 3, 2013.
