Karen Johnston joins Turner as vice president for general entertainment for SEA

HONG KONG – Turner International Asia Pacific has announced that Karen Johnston is joining the company as vice president of network for general entertainment for the South East Asia Pacific region, effective Monday, September 16.
 
The Hong Kong-based Johnston joins Turner with over two decades of experience in the Asian television business, including 16 years at Star TV, where she was Vice President of Programming for Star World and oversaw program acquisitions for other channels.
 
As VP at Turner, she will define and execute current and future content and brand strategy for the company’s general entertainment brands across the South East Asia Pacific region. Turner currently operates two general entertainment brands in these markets, TCM and truTV, and is pursuing opportunities to expand the portfolio.
 
Apart from her position at Star World, Johnston was formerly Programming and Acquisitions director at Universal Networks Asia Pacific. 
 
Commenting on the move, Johnston said: “I’m delighted to be taking on this new challenge at Turner and look forward to delivering on an exciting remit to develop and grow brands across the South East Asia Pacific region.”
