BANGKOK – January 23, 2014 – Thailand media agency Mindshare, with nearly 20 percent market share (RECMA 2013), has promoted Pathamawan Sathaporn as Managing Director of Mindshare Thailand. Pathamawan, current head of Business Planning in Mindshare Thailand, will replace Nilufar Fowler, current MD of Thailand, who has been appointed to lead Mindshare’s Unilever account on a global level, the agency said in a press release.
Sathaporn joined Mindshare in 2006 from Lowe Thailand, where she was VP, Strategic Planning. She has a breadth of experience with a variety of brands ranging from consumer goods to luxury brands. Her main focus has been on harnessing data, building insights and creating strategies that are designed to build client’s business, and has made significant contribution to building Mindshare’s brand portfolio, which includes Unilever, KBank, Pepsi and Mazda. Sathaporn will focus on driving Mindshare’s philosophy of original thinking driven by speed, provocation and teamwork to help clients grow their business and drive profitability.
Commenting on her appointment, Sathaporn said – “I am honored and extremely delighted to take on this role, and the opportunity to drive the continuing success of Mindshare. With the support of our strong and unbeatable team, and leveraging my knowledge and experience in the market and across the region, I am confident that we will have a great year in 2014 and beyond.”
Kevin Clarke, CEO of GroupM Thailand, said, “Appointing Pathamawan as the new leader for Mindshare Thailand is a very natural move. Over the years Mindshare has built an incredibly strong and high performing local management team. Her appointment is testament to Mindshare’s determination to appoint our brightest and best local talent to leadership positions”.
Nilufar Fowler has been with Mindshare for seven years, six of which were spent with the Unilever account team. Prior to her role as MD of Mindshare Thailand, she led the team working on Unilever in Thailand. Before that she worked as the Communications Planning Director on Mindshare’s global Unilever team in London. In her new role as the global account lead, her focus will be on leveraging data-driven technologies to allow Unilever to reach the full potential of real-time marketing.
Commenting on the transition, Nilufar said, “Whilst the new role leading the global Unilever business is an exciting opportunity for me, I am extremely sad to be leaving Bangkok. Mindshare Thailand is packed full of exceptional talent, producing industry leading work for our clients. I am delighted that I am able to hand over the leadership position to Pathamawan, who I have worked with extremely closely over the past four years. I have no doubt that she will lead the agency to even greater heights over the coming years”.
Ashutosh Srivastava, Chairman Asia / CEO Emerging Markets Group at Mindshare, said, “We are delighted to appoint Sathaporn to lead the Mindshare Thailand office. Sathaporn brings energy and enthusiasm to her role and we are eager to grow our business under her leadership. Nilufar is an excellent person to lead the global Unilever team, which is now about 1,000 full time staff across 40 countries around the world. Her relationship with the client is watertight. We are proud of her; and will no doubt continue to be so.”
The leadership transition in Thailand will take place starting in April 2014 and will continue with a two-month overlap period. Nilufar will begin her new role in London in June 2014.
