GLOBAL – UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, JANUARY 9, 2012: Andy Murray, founder and chairman of shopper-marketing agency Saatchi & Saatchi X, has retired from his post, concluding the year-long transition that began with the appointment of Dina Howell, previously Procter & Gamble’s vice president for global media and brand operations, as worldwide CEO last 2010.
According to Betsy Reithemeyer, spokeswoman for Saatchi X, Murray has already expressed his intention to leave his position of executive chairman since December of 2011 and took effect on January 1, the beginning of the agency’s fiscal year.
Murray, who was was also originally from P&G, is set to lead his newly founded marketing-based “business incubator” Mercury 11, stationed in Arkansas. Murray and Howell both belonged to P&G’s Walmart team, which are now both top clients of Saatchi & Saatchi.
Murray left P&G in 1997 to form a consulting firm, and then merged it two years later with an Arkansas-based agency to establish one of the first shopper-marketing agencies, Thompson Murray.
