HONG KONG – David Mayo’s resumé just became even more impressive. The current Chief Executive Officer for WPP partner agency, Bates CHI & Partners has recently been appointed as the Ogilvy & Mather Asia Pacific Group Chief Marketing Officer role. The appointment is effective March 1st.

“Having been within our ranks for more than 20 years, David knows our clients, our people, and our network,” said Paul Heath, Chairman and CEO of O&M Asia Pacific. “I can’t think of a better suited, more qualified, and more liked person to take the reigns of our reputation management as we continue to evolve and drive growth across our 37 offices in Asia Pacific.”

Taking over the leadership of O&M sister network Bates CHI & Partners in 2012, Mayo saw the joint venture develop between Bates and CHI & Partners. Previously, Mayo served as president of O&M Advertising in ASEAN. Mayo came to Asia from London in 1994 to run Guinness, among others. He also founded creative boutique Red Card prior to joining Ogilvy, and has had extensive experience handling accounts in Asia such as Nike, Gillette, The Economist, Motorola, Coca-Cola, and Diageo. Mayo’s client work has been recognized with awards from Cannes, D&AD, One Show, and the London International Awards.

“The role of the agency continues to evolve as brands come to terms with the need to be more immediate and responsive to consumer trends. It’s our job to help clients transform and stay relevant” says Mayo. “At the same time, I think that with too much non-differentiated choice in the agency world, as an industry we make it harder for clients to find the right agency partner. So I’m looking forward to working with our leadership teams around the region to drive that differentiation, and ensure that O&M maintains its competitive edge in every market.”
