MANILA – November 6, 2013 – At Manila FAME 2013, artists from various fields applied their skill in creating unique Philippine crafts.

"You’d see a lot of new stuff from our designers and artists," shared Jinggoy Buensuceso, one of the participating designers at the annual design and lifestyle event held in October.

For this year’s event, Buensuceso did the second edition for Cafe Elle Deco + Dedon and CBTL, in collaboration with Summit Media. "I made it very organic, the feel," he said, noting that from the previous year’s hanging planters, he now used a vertical garden for the nipa hut-inspired pop-up cafe.

"This time, I used hanging structures that served as light reflectors covered in twigs and on the sidelines complemented by vertical gardens to give Cafe Elle Deco a modern yet organic look and feel. Everything is contained in a modern, linear bahay kubo," Buensuceso said.

Buensuceso added that he collaborated with Japanese designer Wataru Sakuma for the second floor setting. Café Elle Deco + DEDON, together with concessionaire Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, co-hosted the opening ceremony of Manila FAME and the Katha Awards in March.

Also part of Buensuceso’s work at Manila FAME was a new collection for Alice Blue Candles. "To introduce excitement and generate renewed interest in the category, I treated candles like ceramics and this is why you see unusual designs in bottles, cans, teacups, spoons and bowls anything you see in the kitchen or dining table. It is a hip accent to any modern home," Buensuceso said.

He also worked on woven baskets from Anna Lobel, a company from the Bicol region. Buensuceso continually supports the company, which is a member of the OTOP Market Place. "I gave their traditional collection a contemporary twist to attract new sets of buyers for them," he said.

Fans of Buensuceso’s doodle art were also treated to the "Crayola" doodle chair, which was part of his 20-piece collection.

Buensuceso also shared that he plans to launch his brand of functional art pieces, Jinggoy Buensuceso. "Hopefully you’ll see it at the next Manila FAME," he said.
