THE PHILIPPINES, MAY 9, 2012: The Philippines will send its first ever delegate for the high-profile advertising, marketing, and communications training ground Roger Hatchuel Academy to be held during the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity on June 17-23, 2012.
University of Asia & the Pacific’s Jolo Valdez, a 5th year student taking his MA in Integrated Marketing Communications, will be the Philippines’ representative in the week-long course which is composed of lectures and workshops conducted by the global leaders in the industry. The Academy hopes to train the participants in crafting the best and most creative and innovative ideas in communication, advertising and marketing. Annually, only 35 students from all over the world will get the opportunity to be part of the Academy.
Valdez, an participant in marketing competitions, was also the president of the University’s Student Executive Board and has also represented his University in other programs like the Ayala Young Leaders Congress and the American Chamber of Commerce Business Program as well as the captain of the Men’s Basketball Varsity team.
According to Valdez, participating in the academy will truly help him in his career in marketing or advertising. “I really see this rare opportunity as a way to develop a creative mindset, a way to widen my understanding of different cultures, and in effect, build an international level of crafting and appreciating creative and effective ideas.” He further emphasizes his appreciation of creativity as he says; “I think that being creative helps you in any field, whether it be in advertising, marketing or what have you. By being creative in the way you think, you can help provide a different perspective and hopefully provide answers to different problems."
