MANILA, October 4, 2013 – How many times have we heard the message on TV advertisements that says breastfeeding is best for babies up to two years? Or how often do we read the fine print on milk ads?
Publicis JimenezBasic took the initiative in promoting this advocacy beyond print and TV campaigns. To encourage continued breastfeeding for its mom-employees, the agency provided a lactation room, following the guidelines set by the Department of Health.
Breastfeeding not only protects babies against diabetes, asthma, obesity, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), childhood leukemia and a host of other sicknesses, it also reduces the risk of breast cancer, ovarian cancer, type 2 diabetes and postpartum depression among mothers.
Publicis JimenezBasic’s joint CEO, Bebot Ngo said, “We have always been in support of this cause and we’re just happy that now, we are able to formalize it.”
Furthermore, the agency’s joint CEO JR Ramos said, “Pro-breastfeeding equals healthier kids. Initially, we just wanted to foster gender-sensitivity at the workplace. In the process, we’re also increasing productivity by reducing parental absence.”
The agency has also urged some of its partner-clients to follow suit.
According to RA 10028, public and private establishments that maintain DOH-certified lactation stations can avail of tax incentives.
Whatever the case, breastfeeding is a must for babies. It’s not only for their health but it also helps build relationship between the mother and the child, and a working mom should not have to miss that moment.
