GLOBAL, NOVEMBER 17, 2011: Showing a client what your company does best is not actually a bad thing. But as they say, the truth hurts – and this time, SapientNitro’s viral attempt via music video just didn’t hit the right notes.
“Idea Engineers” is a self-promotion video showing a man, flanked by two to four women, rapping his way through his daily routine and how they live their lives at SapientNitro, essentially promoting that they do exceptional work that “has never been done before”. The video is also accompanied by a guitar riff and a female vocals solo, interspersed with shots of an office (presumably SapientNitro) and dancing.
Ironically, very few –if not no one – seemed to agree. Mere minutes after the video was posted in the SapientNitro Facebook page, negative comments began to pop up, which were subsequently deleted by the page’s administrator. The action irked several netizens and put the SapientNitro’s own social networking skills into question.
The video has already been taken down from SapientNitro’s Facebook page, but has survived nonetheless, through different users who have managed to post the video on their own sites or channels, where comments of both support and criticism have since been posted.
“We do great social media work for clients. Today we left our own brand unattended. We’re sorry. Watch this space for more. #ironic”, SapientNitro later Tweeted in apology.
