Spikes Asia reveals last four jury presidents

SINGAPORE, JUNE 10, 2013 – The Spikes Asia Festival of Creativity has announced the remaining jury presidents for this year’s Festival and Awards. 

Masaru Kitakaze, Executive Creative Director, Corporate Officer, Hakuhodo, will preside over the Digital and Mobile Jury. Kitakaze is the recipient of numerous international awards over a wide variety of categories, including gold Cannes Lions in the Cyber, Film and Design categories in 2012, as well as countless advertising awards in Japan.

Lo Sheung Yan, Chairman, Asia Pacific Creative Council, JWT is to lead the Craft Jury. “Mayan”, as he is known among his peers, joined the Chinese advertising industry in 1996, receiving many top regional and global advertising awards, also leading China to claim its very first Grand Prix at Cannes Lions 2011 for Samsonite’s “Heaven and Hell” ad.

Jarek Ziebinski, President, Leo Burnett Asia Pacific, is to preside over the Creative Effectiveness Jury. Ziebinski, who arrived in the region in 2009, has recently been selected by New York based publication, The Internationalist, as an agency innovator, and recognizes him for work in responsible brand building and multinational strategy. Ziebinski has led Leo Burnett Asia Pacific to its highest rate of growth in the last decade. The network is now also one of the most awarded agency networks regionwide.

Lastly, Derek Longwood, Worldwide Director of Design at Saatchi & Saatchi Design Worldwide, is to chair the Design Jury. Longwood boasts over 25 years of experience in the industry. He has led numerous acclaimed and successful projects, including retail design, branding, graphic design, product design and business communication projects. Longwood engages with an expansive variety of clients worldwide and works within his agency group to build its design expertise.

Philip Thomas, CEO of Lions Festivals, says that this lineup rounds out an excellent group of presidents who are experts in both their fields as well as the Asia-Pacific region. Such strong leaders, said he, are key to lead juries and recognize the excellence of the year’s entries.
