SINGAPORE – October 4, 2013 – Dentsu Network/Asia has announced the appointment of Theodore "Ted" Christian Lau as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the region.
He joins Dentsu on October 7, and will be based in Singapore, reporting to Dick van Motman, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Dentsu Network/Asia.
As Regional CFO, Lau will be responsible for strategic planning and streamlining of all financial reporting and controlling across 22 offices in the region.
“In the agency world, while innovation and creativity are constantly in the limelight, financial governance acts as the bedrock for business success. Ted is a great addition to the steering team in the region, with impeccable credentials in building operational strength in his previous roles. I look forward to his leadership and financial guidance as we continue to build on our regional mandate,” said van Motman.
Lau will also play a key role in the Regional Council as Dentsu strengthens its presence in Southeast Asia and Australia/New Zealand. His appointment follows recent senior hires to the posts of Chief Creative Officer and Regional Head of Talent as Dentsu gears up for rapid growth.
Lau has over 25 years of experience, having spent the last 16 years at Ogilvy & Mather, where he played a major role in shaping and developing various O&M offices into market leaders.
Earlier, he worked at CNN International and Arthur Andersen. Lau’s roles have taken him from the United States to Europe and finally back to Asia in the early 90s.
“I look forward to working with Dick and his team as they lead the charge at Dentsu Network/Asia, building out the talent base and infrastructure to support the Agency’s growth. It is a great responsibility and a challenge I am excited about,” commented Lau on his appointment as Regional CFO.
Dentsu Network/Asia has 1,300 employees across 22 offices in eight countries.
