THE PHILIPPINES, JANUARY 4, 2012: As it appears, Carlos Celdran, a Manila tourist guide, activist, and
performing artist, may have started the buzz on the upcoming
Department of Tourism campaign when he tweeted:
@carlosceldran: actually does like the new DOT campaign for the Philippines.

The new campaign, which is yet to be released, will be developed by
advertising agency BBDO Guerrero, and is set to be announced this
Friday.
The pressure is on for the upcoming campaign as there have been
criticisms on the previous tourism campaigns. One of which is
"Pilipinas Kay Ganda" that was scrapped due to heavy criticism in
2010.

Being a public figure, Celdran’s followers on Twitter may have gotten
curious over his statement and tweeted their support and questions on
when the campaign will be released to DOT’s official Twitter account,
@helpdot. Some of the tweets are as follows:
@tippi_ocampo: Excited for @helpDOT #DOT’s new campaign–I know I’ll
want to travel around the Phil!! TBH, couldn’t wait & already booked a
trip to Cebu 🙂

@natashya_g: Excited about the new DOT campaign. I hope we reach the
goal of 10M tourists by 2016! It’s the Philippines’ time. We have so
much to offer!

Dennis Garcia also tweeted: "had an interesting long conversation with
DOT Sec. MonJ at GB5… about advertising… tourism… and fighting
for Pinas’ place in the sun… looks like lotsa fun in the days ahead!"

Margot Torres, president of the Philippine Association of National
Advertisers (PANA) on the new Philippine Tourism campaign of which she
had a sneak preview said, "I love it! It makes rest of other tourism
campaigns look dated and too serious."

The country and Filipinos wait in anticipation for the launch of the
tourism campaign. It is expected that the campaign will be announced
by DOT secretary Mon Jimenez this Friday.
