SINGAPORE – October 8, 2013 – Tripti Lochan, CEO of VML Qais has announced the appointment of Gary Teo as Regional Director of Technology.
In this newly-created role, Teo will lead and develop VML Qais’ regional technology practice. This includes an expansion of the agency’s technology portfolio, with special emphasis on enhancing brands’ online and mobile commerce capabilities as they become an increasing part of marketing strategy, VML Qais said in a press release.
Commenting on the appointment, Lochan said, “As our digital and real worlds seamlessly merge into one experience, technology is becoming a key cornerstone of marketing. And the fun is in innovating, in coming up with new ways of looking at the same problem. Gary as the leader of our Technology Practice is perfect – an entrepreneur who has solid technology experience in the marketing space. It’s a really exciting time for us!”
Based in Singapore for the region, Gary reports directly to Lochan.
The newest addition to VML Qais’ growing team, Teo has over a decade of experience in the digital space. Before returning from Silicon Valley, Teo studied at Stanford and worked at a start-up. He spent four years as an entrepreneur, growing a digital design thinking company from start-up to mid-size firm.
Teo has led the implementation of numerous projects from large-scale digital web revamps, mobile automation solutions for enterprises to most recently, regional e-commerce rollouts for brands.
Teo said, “Digital is and will always be in my blood. I enjoy learning from the various industries that my work has exposed me to and embrace the opportunity to apply a fresh and creative perspective to problems in those domains. Work is a lifestyle in my opinion and as such, it is imperative that I work with and for motivated and intelligent minds creating solutions that we pride ourselves in.”
In his personal pursuit of growing and encouraging the entrepreneurial spirit in Singapore, Teo is an active participant in the local start up scene and consults other start-ups in the region including Redmart, Give Singapore and Racerlink.
Teo also steers the Infocomm competency development for the Singaporean government, and sits on the SingPost Advisory Council on eCommerce.
