MANILA – October 7, 2013 – To help their long-time colleague Chiqui ‘Siki’ Mendoza, Y&R Philippines put up Road to Rockovery, a benefit gig that would raise funds for her hospitalization.

Sadly, Mendoza passed away on September 27, shortly before the fundraiser began. "Industry friends of Siki expressed a short prayer of peace as Rockovery began. In between tears, messages were offered to the cheerful office assistant who has touched the hearts of many," Y&R Philippines said on the Lakihan Mo Logo page.

Mendoza is survived by her 19-year-old son AJ.

Mendoza, who made Y&R Philippines her home for 25 years, was remembered for her wholehearted service and passion. "If there’s one thing I remember about Siki, it’s that she was not one to complain. She did double duty as traffic and P.A. to the creative department, while heroically raising her son as a single mom. Even when she took the news that her cancer had returned, she didn’t even tell a soul," Badong Abesamis, CCO of Y&R Philippines, said in a tribute written by Tris Mateo, senior copywriter at Y&R Philippines.

Mendoza was well-loved for her singing, her quirky costumes, and her sunny and hopeful personality, Mateo wrote. "She will truly be missed," said Y&R Philippines President Chiqui Lara.

Although the mood during Rockovery was somber, the event went on and was a success, with over P250,000 raised. "To help by donating money to secure AJ’s future, please go to the dedicated microsite," said Y&R Philippines, pledging to give back the same love and care they received from Mendoza by taking care of her son.
