Philippine fashion icon Ditta Sandico who is known for using banaca (a mix of banana and abaca fibers) and Mangyan weaves in her creations and her style director Raymond Villanueva give an insider peek into the state of the local fashion industry amid the pandemic and the impactful roles of fashionistas in these difficult times with SALE A VIE on June 13, 5PM.
Filipino anthropologist and cultural historian Dr. Fernando “Butch” Zialcita presents a major fashion flashback as he takes us through the history of our baro’t saya and barong tagalog with The Advent of National Costumes in the Philippines and Mexico via the Galleons on June 14, 2PM. Award-winning veteran journalist Howie Severino dedicates an evening to Baybayin, to explain why this ancient script is an important cultural resource and a vital part of the Filipino identity on June 16 at 7PM with Atin ‘to!
