MANILA, PHILIPPINES — A strong advocate of gender equality, diversity and inclusivity, the Cultural Center of Philippines celebrates the Pride Month with a lighting event at the Main Building Facade, starting June 23 to 30, 2021.

Remembering the uprising at the Stonewall Inn in 1969, the facade show is the Center’s way of recognizing and honoring the contributions made by the LGBTQIA+ community to social development throughout history.

The facade lights up with the Pride rainbow colors, a reminder to the world’s promise of equality, freedom and justice for all. Complementing it are cut-out patterns or gobos, inserted in special theater light equipment.

The design was a collaboration effort of the Production Design and Technical Services Division personnel and the Theater Crew, under the guidance of Ricardo Eric G. Cruz, chief of the CCP’s Production Design and Technical Division.

This is the third time that the CCP joins the Pride celebration. The first was in 2019, followed by in 2020. But this year is the longest lighting event so far.

Catch the CCP Pride Lighting Show daily, except Monday, from 7 to 10pm, starting June 23 to 30, 2021.
